The size of the property was big enough to have a dining room but small enough that we felt like we were part of a family visiting from out of town. Rooms were large and comfortable, and decorated nicely. The patio, gardens and library nook added exceptional places to relax. Staff were so friendly and helpful. This was our first visit to Joberg and they helped us map out places to see that were not necessarily on the prime tourist lists.

Located in Houghton, The Residence is a boutique hotel that offers spacious suites with a spa bath, and a balcony overlooking the garden, the fire pit or the outdoor pool. The staff was super friendly. The place was lovely and had that modern touch with abit of old school. The breakfast was excellent. The room was out of this world maybe one of the best stay Ive ever experienced.

We came for 4 nights after a Safari in the Kruger and was made to feel at home from the start. The compound was very safe, and the staff were very friendly. We got to know some of them quite well. We frequented the spa and the ladies thay worked there were so nice, offering us recommendations for meals. Talking of the spa, we had our fair share of treatments, and each time we wanted to come back for more. We would recommending using Uber to get around the city as that seems to be the safest option, and would recommend a meal at 'And then there was fire' which is an experience in itself. If (when) we come back to J'berg, we will be stopping at the Wesley again.
