I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mascot Houseboats on Nigeen Lake, and it was truly a delightful experience. The houseboats are beautifully carved wooden boats that exude charm and character. They are easily accessible from ghat 1, and a free shikara service is available from morning till night, making transportation convenient and hassle-free. The service at Mascot is exceptional, with waiters stationed in each boat who prepare and serve all meals, snacks, and tea. The food is delicious and feels like a home-cooked meal. I particularly enjoyed the lotus root curry and apricot curry, which are local seasonal specialties and were both incredibly flavorful. Staying on Nigeen Lake was a peaceful and serene experience, with spectacular views all around. It offered a quieter stay compared to the bustling Dal Lake, which was exactly what I was looking for. The highlight of my stay was the 2-hour wetland tour, where I got to experience local lake life and wildlife that thrives in the heart of the city. It was a truly memorable experience that I would highly recommend. Despite choosing the cheapest room option, I felt like I was receiving first-class service. The staff and management at Mascot Boats were incredibly welcoming and always ready to chat about the history and richness of Kashmir, adding to the overall experience. The wifi in our boat was low at times, however this did not bother us as our surroundings kept our time full. Do expect power cuts every now again, but that it to expected across the Kashmir region, and the staff make sure to keep essentials like hot water available. Overall, my stay at Mascot Houseboats was fantastic, and I can't wait to return with my family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in Kashmir. - Zain and Euri

I had pre-booked my first night in India. I was looking for a nice houseboat which could provide peace and quiet, genuine Kashmir food and an astonishing view — all this on a budget. My research led me to Kings Houseboats: Spot on! My plan was to stay a night or two meanwhile I was looking for the right place to stay but when I arrived at the houseboat and I saw my room, I knew I found the right place! When you are lying down on your pillow looking out through the wide side windows and you see the amazing lotus fields spreading out until the misty mountains of the Himalayan — this is life! See pictures taken from my double bed and from the front deck. Ask for Master cabin: Room 007. When I took a rickshaw (100 rubies — electric rickshaw) downtown to Dal lake and I saw the houseboats all stuck together and the shikara driving around like crazy, I really understood that I made the right decision! The Dunoo family will take care of you. This is a well-respected family, with the heart on the right place! They will try to make the best for you during your stay AND without any hidden plans. The awe-inspiring father will treat you like a son and accommodate all your needs. The mother will spoil you with excellent Kashmir food. Set in the tranquil Nigeen Lake, New Jacqueline Heritage Houseboat (NJHH) is a true gem in Srinagar. This property is very clean, well maintained, and beautifully adorned with traditional Kashmiri interiors. We were treated to great hospitality by the owner, Mr. Maqsood his son Sami and their entire team. Special mention to Muneer for taking good care of us and our needs during our stay. We are vegetarians, and the food served was to our liking. The views from the deck area are beautiful. I would recommend visitors to spend atleast 2 nights to soak in the experience. We will definitely visit this property again. P.S, If you get an opportunity to visit the houseboat owner Mr. Maqsood's residence, pls do visit to look at his collection of Kashmiri pashmina shawls, carpets, clothes, etc. which can be purchased a trip souvenir.

The location is so peaceful. The staff are lovely. The meals are great.

Excellent location and very peaceful, not very crowded like Dal Lake as this is situated in Nigeen Lake, service was excellent by Ashraf, Reyaz our caretakers & Mr Tanveer our manager were very friendly and hospitable, food was very good

Beautiful location, peaceful and traditional experience. Away from the Main Street which added an additional peace. Floating markets a must see. Highly recommend this stay when visiting Kashmir. Lovely heated rooms, hot shower and ample bedding for the Winter weather.

Some of the most wonderful holy days I've ever experienced. The boat is lovely, clean, comfortable and offers great views over the lake. Big plus, the home cooked food is delicious. Ajaz and his family are amazing at offering true Kashmiri hospitality, always ready to help from their hearts. They can assist you with all your travel plans, be it the set up of a royal camping trip in the mountains, a sunset shikara ride or a drive to Ladakh. Look no further, they know the best ways and places. A definite winner! Will be back again to bask in these charming beautiful vibes.

We had wonderful time staying at Taj Dal View. Staff was courteous and very polite and helpful. Breakfast and food was excellent. We will definitely go back there

Ash and his Family make you feel so welcomed in their home. The room was amazing, clean and has everything you need to make your stay a pleasant one. Ash helped me when I ran into an issue at a petrol station. Everyone is super friendly and treat you like you're part of their family. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Ali and his wonderful family are amazing hosts and will make you feel at home. Ali speaks flawless English and helps you with planning your trip in Kashmir. Rooms are cozy and clean. Electric blankets are provided during winter time.
