Auberge Hidanomori blev genåbnet efter renovering i 2022. Det ligger i rolige bakker, 10 minutters kørsel fra JR Takayama Station. The food and experience is phenomenal for the price paid. Please take the dinner and a few glasses of wine - the host is exceptional with pairings and the food is unimaginably good. The bath even though shared is also very nice with a full onsen vibe. Everything in the building has very obviously been meticulously thought through.

The house itself is amazing — spotlessly clean, well-organized, and full of charm, with a lovely little garden that adds such a peaceful touch. It has everything you could possibly need, and the location is convenient — just a short walk from nishi-kani station, and not too far from Nagoya. I genuinely felt at home during my stay, and I’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone. I’d love to come back again, and I encourage others to stay here too.

An old farm turned.into a vacation home. We could live here! Old and traditional feel, but clean, everything is well taken care of and with modern amenities. Just outside a small village, very peaceful, a great garden and a large net at the gate that should be closed at night to keep wild animals out. Nothing scary, mostly deer and wild cats I suppose 😊. One thing you should know: do some proper supermarket shopping on your way 'home'. Waste of time to drive 10+ km for just a box of eggs. But don't worry about drinking water and ice; this is available in the house.

It’s located a bit outside of town, but Emi and Junko were always happy to give us a ride. The meals are gorgeously prepared feasts - good luck if you can finish! The hotel also arranged a “Zazen experience” at a historic temple nearby, which was very interesting. We will treasure our memories of the Totoro and its wonderful staff!
