More than basics supplied in kitchen- coffee , tee , milk biscuits, croissant, jam and butter, breakfast cereal. Washing machine and ample washing line space in a nice courtyard that also serves as an outside eating area. It is a small village, so everything is within walking distance. One of the most helpful host/owners you will ever meet.

B&B Casa da Ponte Selmes Vidigueira ligt in Selmes en heeft een buitenzwembad, een tuin, een terras, en gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie. A hidden oasis gem in whitewashed Portuguese village. The owners, Anouk and Dennis, a Dutch couple are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The 2 rooms are self catering but for a small price a very tasty continental breakfast is available. Our ‘room’ consisted of a huge bedroom with very comfortable super king bed leading to modern fully equipped bathroom with wonderfully powerful shower. There is also a sitting room and further twin bedroom upstairs. Outside is a salt pool, expanse of grassy area (good place for breakfast) with shady trees. There is also a very well equipped shared kitchen for both rooms. Wonderful place, we had a great time. Thank you.

Alentejo Cante & Vinho heeft een buitenzwembad, een tuin, een gedeelde lounge en een terras in Ferreira do Alentejo. Alles maar dan ook alles. Wat een mooie accomodatie. Rui de gastheer stond ons al op te wachten op straat. Een gastvrij onthaal gehad en vervolgens een rondleiding door een van zijn wijnkelders. Rui vertelde vol passie over de traditionele manier van wijn maken wat hij doet. Rui heeft ons vervolgens een restaurant geadviseerd waar we goddelijk traditioneel hebben gegeten. Rui staat altijd voor je klaar en spreekt erg goed Engels. Ook de dame die de kamer schoonmaakt wil ik nog even benoemen. Wat een lieverd. Je hebt het gevoel of je een huis tot je beschikking hebt omdat je alles mag gebruiken. Uiteindelijk of een nacht bij kunnen boeken en een dag mee geweest met druiven plukken en wijn maken. Wat een belevenis. Ik denk 1 van de allerbeste locaties waar wij hebben overnacht tijdens onze vele vakanties. Wij zijn verliefd geworden op deze parel.

Lagoa azul guest house II ligt in Vila Nova de Milfontes, op 2,5 km van Franquia-strand en 2,5 km van Fort São Clemente. We werden warm welkom geheten en kregen tips voor de omgeving. We zijn dan ook dezelfde avond op pad gegaan. De hele accommodatie is heel schoon en alles lijkt als nieuw. Mooie handdoeken en een heerlijke regendouche! Fijn om in de gemeenschappelijke ruimte iets in de koelkast te kunnen bewaren.

The hotel itself is like a step back in time, with each room styled uniquely to reflect the charm of a traditional Portuguese home. It’s full of character but still manages to be incredibly comfortable and inviting. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Gonçalo, the General Manager. He showed us around and shared the hotel’s history, which added so much depth to our stay. He was friendly, approachable, and clearly passionate about the place, which really set the tone for the entire experience. The hotel’s atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, and the pool area, though small, is beautifully designed - a perfect spot to relax and take in the serene surroundings. But let’s talk about the food - because it was the absolute highlight of our stay. Trust me, as someone who’s a serious foodie and has eaten at countless restaurants, this is not a compliment I give lightly: it was the best food I’ve ever had. The head chef is not just talented but also incredibly warm and passionate. Each dish was a masterpiece, rooted in traditional Portuguese flavors, and the chef took the time to explain the story behind each one. We even had a great chat and discovered he’s a Manchester fan (great taste!) Every bite was an experience, and the meals are something we’ll be dreaming about for years to come. Casa Az-Zagal is a truly special place. From the welcoming staff to the peaceful setting and the unforgettable food, it’s a stay we’ll always remember. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels both authentic and luxurious, this is it - you won’t regret it!

SOLAR DOS FRADES heeft een buitenzwembad, een fitnesscentrum, een tuin en een gedeelde lounge in Ferreira do Alentejo. Two weary cyclists arrived for one night. We were delighted! Ines—one of the owners— is warm and welcoming. Our room was splendid—comfortable, lovely, overlooking the beautiful pool. Breakfast was perfect—obrigado Patricia! We liked this beautiful Solar ( a former school where Ines was a schoolgirl—how cool!) so much that we stayed one more night! My friend left for work in Lisboa and I stayed for a third night! One night turned into three because it is so delightful! I have cycled 94,000+km around the world and have stayed at well over 1000+ hotels around the world on every continent except Antarctica—Solar Dos Frades is one of the best! Obrigado Ines!
