We had a pleasant stay in Pingyao and it was a wonderful experience to sleep in the Pingyao Ji Family Courtyard Inn. You felt like living in former times. We can just recommend it.

The owner and his daughter did everything to make us feel at home. The place was really beautiful, our room was cozy and warm. They cooked us breakfast even if we had to leave early in the morning. They were so kind to take us to the train station. If you come to Pingyao this is the perfect place to stay!

五福居 Five Blessings Hotel is gelegen op 1,4 km van het centrum van Datong, op minder dan 1 km van Nine Dragon Screen, en biedt accommodatie met airconditioning, een patio, gratis fietsen en een tuin. Oh my goodness! This was a treat :) it is in the old city walls where there is tons of shopping, eating and sightseeing. We were also easily able to book a tour that picked us up at the hotel for the big sites light the pagoda, hanging temple and grottos. We wanted an English guide so booked through another source, but the hotel would also arrange for a taxi service if you wanted. The city wall is just across the street and you can ride bikes up there and during the evening there are shops and bright decorations. The 9 dragging screen with the glasses tiles is also a short walk. Museums, pagodas, temples, quaint streets and busy markets are all within walking distance. It is a bit away from the new city center and the south railway station (where all high speed trains come in) … BUT they arrange for free transportation to and from the hotel. It was apparent at every step of the way that those working were eager to please and wanted the stay to be perfect. They upgraded our room free of charge when they saw we had two kids and only 1 bed. The larger room was available so they have it to us to make the nights more comfortable. They also provide a free breakfast each morning and the food was outstanding. They made it to order and over fed us each day. Laundry machine and detergent is available for use. The facilities are very newly updated and clean. We wished we could have stayed for longer.

Datong Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard ligt in het oude centrum van Datong, op 5 minuten lopen van de Huayan-tempel en de Negen Drakenmuur. Best location for most inner city sites. The room is spotless and the staff are really friendly and thoughtful. They arrange pick up from the nearest spot. Its just a stone's away from the main street. It feels like you're home. They take care of all your needs and qs.

This is an awesome place to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the ancient city of Pingyao! The location is very convenient. Inside the old town, but you can walk from the North gate in 10 minutes or less. That being said, the hotel staff really does speak English, which will make things much easier during your stay. For example, this hotel was very helpful in organizing one-day-trips out of the town, it took literally 5 minutes to coordinate with the hostess the route and start time we needed. We had a spacious room on the second floor with three beds. I think it is quieter than the first floor rooms. There are a lot of guests and visitors, there is still someone running around in the courtyards on the first floor in the evenings, but our upstairs hallway was very quiet. The room has slippers, kettle and cups, drinking water, which is replenished every day, shower gel and shampoo. The bed linen and towels are clean, the room is cleaned every day. There were no questions about water supply and sewerage, everything works normally. There is also a good number of European-style electrical outlets. WiFi was very good as well. The hotel serves a very varied breakfast. There is a Chinese-style breakfast in buffet form. For guests unaccustomed to such dishes, there is an additional menu with an excellent choice. (Actually, this is why the hotel does not include breakfast in the room rate in advance. You can choose different options at different prices.) You will also be served tea and coffee in the format we are used to at breakfast. Very comfortable. There are probably a lot of pictures here already, but I'll give in to temptation and attach a couple of my own. There is also a “Switzerland-breakfast" on my picture. If you looking for traditional Chinese accomodation, this is what you looking for. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The apartment is right in the ancient city. I recommend this place to stay!
