Guesthouse Kinari was exceptional and we are so thankful we had the opportunity to stay at this lovely space. It also serves as a center for the community children and also persons with disabilities to gather, and spaces like this are so important for the community as everyone is able to use the space. The room we stayed in was also really comfortable and spacious, with great beds and a big toilet that comes with a bathtub! The entire facility is yours and in the morning, people from the community also gather in the facility and we even got to enjoy the loveliest breakfast of onigiri and miso soup together. The owner also provided a personal guide of places to see in the neighbourhood that was really insightful. I cannot stress how grateful we are to have been able to stay here and we are so thankful to the people who continue to work so hard at Guesthouse Kinari so that everyone can feel right at home at this space. Thank you again!

It is a nice apartment in a garage loft. The space is spotlessly clean and neatly arranged in a "modern Japanese" style featuring tatami mats, futon beds, shoji doors etc. The host, Asami, is incredibly polite and accommodating. She quickly responded to my messages, picked us up from the train station and never bat an eyelid in response to our "on-the-way" chaotic planning. Asami's husband runs a small buddhist temple. It's very serene and open for the guests. You can also opt in for a guided tour, which we did and liked very much. The bicycles that they provided us (for free!) were very useful for exploring the surroundings. We visited Mount Shizugatake and the Nishino Tunnel. The former has splendid views; the lift was closed but it was a very pleasant walk. Regarding the tunnel: it's good to know there are actually two tunnels, the original and the modern one. This made it very easy to split into two groups (... the Adventurers and the Cowards ...). One great surprise was the Cherry Tree Alley leading to a shrine not far from the Shizugatake lower lift station. We thought we had arrived in Japan too late for the cherry blossoms, but here they had this late blooming variety that allowed us take lovely Sakura photos at the end of April!

Masako San was a fantastic host and the house and rice farm was like taking a step back in time. The surrounding was quite peaceful and the food that was provided was excellent. Masako San was so kind to drive us to and from the train station and the train ride from Kyoto was convenient. It is wonderful to get some good county air and get some great sleep

蔵の宿 隠れ蔵 Kakurekura Traditional Private Stay is gelegen in Nagahama, op 43 km van kasteel van Hikone, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren en een terras. We had a great stay in this traditional little house ! Everything is clean, the kitchen is very well equipped, we loved the bathroom with a view of the surrounding fields and mountains. The family is lovely and has a great sense of hospitality. We will come back !

Guesthouse Shin is gelegen in Omihachiman, op 37 km van Enryaku-ji-tempel en 38 km van Tempel Sanzen-in, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis WiFi in de hele accommodatie en gratis... The house is clean, spacious, and nearby to most of the tourist attractions. The owner is very lovely, helpful and responsive. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Omihachiman.

静かに過ごす古民家ステイ Staying quietly in renovated house bevindt zich in Takashima, op 48 km van Ruriko-in, 49 km van Enryaku-ji-tempel, en 50 km van Shugakuin Imperial Villa. The owners were so friendly and caring! It was such a lovely experience staying with them! If you want to have a relaxing day in a countryside area and just want to experience the laid back life there I recommend you to stay there. Besides it's not far to go to lake biwa by a little walking and to go to imazu to catch a ferry to chikubu Island.
