This is the nicest hostel I've ever stayed at, and it's not even close. I also stayed at some great hotels during my stay in Japan, but Kotori still stands out as my favourite. I had a private room, and it was so worth it. The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was - the room smelled amazing, the mattress looked brand new, and the bed linens were crisp and white. The dining area upstairs and bathroom/ laundry areas on the main floor were similarly spotless. I usually carry flip flops to use in communal showers, but there was no need in this case - the showers always looked scrubbed clean. Every part of the hostel is well decorated and looks modern and cool. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the check-in/ check-out process was quick and easy. I really hope I get the chance to visit again!

This was the nicest hostel I have been to! Very friendly welcome and so many facilities - common room, laundry etc everything was fresh and spotless! Although my room was small it was so cosy and the bed was very comfortable 😊 I came here as a walking pilgrim and the location is perfect for visiting Temple 88 but the end is also right beside the tram line which leads all the way to the city centre if needed. Truly beyond expectations and such a nice place to stay!

Right on the Henro path, about 3km before Iyadaniji temple. It’s clean, comfortable and very well-appointed, with a bar that looked great. Seiji is an excellent host who has created a wonderful resting place for travellers and pilgrims.

The couple who run it are so sweet, so nice and helpful. They gave me a ton of recommendations, and even helped me navigate getting around the area. The hospitality was next level. The beds were super comfy, and the rooms were really cute. They had an amazing common room, which made it super easy to socialize with other guests, and to top it all off breakfast was delicious. They opened the bar one night I was here and that was so much fun. Great beer, great food, and met some really cool people. 10/10 would recommend.

This was our favorite stay in Japan for so many reasons- The owner, Shin is so generous and friendly and made our stay wonderful! He picked us up from the train station, sat and talked with us, educating us on all the interesting g places to see in Takamatsu. His home has been in his family for over 2oo years and has been removed so tastefully with fine carpentry. We loved the cedar lined bath! I cannot recommend a place to stay more highly! Shin is a wonderful interesting host! Thank you so much!!

Miyama-tei is a quiet place surrounded by rice and vegetable fields. I enjoyed a restful stay in a comfortable bunk room. The facilities were very clean and the kitchen is well equipped. There are a few small cafes within walking distance. Check-in was self service and the instructions sent ahead of time were easy to follow.
