Kagelow Mt.Fuji Hostel Kawaguchiko has been newly renovated in September 2015. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. There are shared bathrooms on the ground floor, and Mt. It was an excellent place to stay. We really liked the atmosphere of the hostel, it is very nice, and calm. Unfortunately we couldn't try the cafeteria but anything we we used was perfect and we had no trouble at all. We got more than I actually expected, but really everything just looks like the pictures.

I had a great stay at this hostel in Sado. Everything was very clean, the facilities were modern and well-equipped, and I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The personnel is very kind and helpful. I greatly appreciated the possibility to borrow a well-maintained good quality road bike. The island is a cycling paradise.

My stay at this hostel was wonderful. It’s beautiful and cozy, combining traditional Japanese decor with modern functionality. The staff genuinely care about making guests feel comfortable and ensuring they have everything they need. For me, the shared space is important, and it was very nice here – though perhaps a few more board games would be a great addition. The dormitory room was fantastic, with big, soft mattresses. I definitely recommend it!

My party of 5 total stayed only one night when hiking the Magome to Nagiso section of the Nakasendo. Proximity to train station and Nakasendo trail was the original selling point, but we fell in love with the place as soon as our host toured us around. It feels like staying at an artsy bed and breakfast, except you provide the breakfast and you get the entire place to yourself. There's small, delightful touches of personality and hospitality every where you look. We did not want for anything. Our sweet host met us at the front door to enter data from our passports and then gave us a walk through of the building. Two toilets and two showers was perfect for a group of 5. Fridge and other kitchen appliances work great. We listened to the CD disc player on the wall while reading the books and it was a lovely experience.The futons were placed very thoughtfully according to our parties needs. In addition to the trail and train station, there's a grocery store, a historic bridge and a cafe all within a couple minutes walk. The patios were a great hang out spot and we saw monkeys near the river around 7am. Honestly, I wish we had stayed longer but our plans dictated we move on. Next time we will try to book a few more nights so we can explore the area more!

They also partner with a ski rental store that collects your gear from the lodge when you done, if you are looking for a no-hassles stay in Hakuba this a good option.
