The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave me directions for sightseeing around town. The self check-in was also very straightforward. Would gladly stay again, Hyuga City was an underrated gem!

The host and staff are very nice and thoughtful. I was amazed by the interior design, and selection of refreshments/drinks/books here, everything is crafted in details and I can feel their efforts and seriousness. It’s truly impressive to be staying in a historical building and surrounded by wood, while enjoying the neat environment and modern design of shared bathroom. This’s also a good location for people who want to slow down and prefer less busy areas. Walkable distance to tram and JR stations, and the nearby area of Shirakawa River’s definitely nice for a walk. And don’t forget to order fine sake by 9pm if you’d like to taste more!

All units will provide guests with a fridge. The property itself was amazing! There is a lovely common space where you can cook and hang out! The beach right down the street is beautiful and empty and you can rent so many different water activities! Only thing: restaurants around the place are often closed or far away, you can take the bus there (which is going every half an hour until ~19:00) or make sure you have at least something you can eat ready at the hostel so in case you don't find something you are settled. There is a convenience store right next to the hostel.

The room was bright and super spacious, and the shared kitchen has everything you need to cook a nice meal! Also, the owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome 😊

Conveniently situated in the Yufuin Onsen district of Yufu, Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel is located 49 km from Crasus Dome Oita, 2 km from Kinrinko Lake and 27 km from Beppu Station. With a shared lounge, the 1-star hostel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The accommodation provides a hot spring bath, evening entertainment and family rooms. Good view, comfortable beds, quiet and calm environment. I was here 7 years ago, so I'm so surprised that they maintain the high quality of the accommodation for so long time. Everything is as nice as 7 years ago. Appreciate the great effort by the owner.

The units will provide guests with a desk and a kettle. I really liked the couple that run the place. They keep it so clean and the community room is very user-friendly. It was comfortable as a solo female traveler. It’s a great location, easy to walk to the airport, grocery store, and restaurants. I would definitely stay again.

I’m only now writing a review for Shiori place, however this was my first introduction to Japan, and one of our favourite experiences of our whole 2 month trip throughout the country. Not only is she the perfect host, super attentive, open, friendly unbelievably giving , but she went above and beyond what one could ask for from a stranger. After one night we extended our stay and she took us on a tour around the town, to museums, shrines, the beach and we shared several meals together, all of which only made us sadder to leave her. The house is beautiful, has everything you could want from a guesthouse and the traditional interior decoration of Japanese homes. We hope we have formed a friendship for a long time to come and we will never forgot our wonderful stay with her. Please do not hesitate to book, even if it is for a short stay, you won’t regret it.
