Anything but ordinary. Welcome to Desert Hideaway, my dugout hidden in the hills. Experience underground living at its best, not too far underground, lots of natural light. It is very private with stunning views of the outback plains. We are a remote community, and this dugout is over 100 years old made from old Opal mining, it is beautiful and tranquil but it is rustic and outback with its little faults and quirks, its not perfect, but you will love it. Our lifestyle is crazy, we have no plumber, builders, electricians, we have to just do it ourselves and get on with it. We drive 600km's return to get groceries, or go to the hardware store, things are tough sometimes ut they are genuine, this is a genuine experience, please forgive us if there are little things that went south just before your visit. We do promise that you will be comfortable, fall in love with this cute little place and not want to leave. I do offer an experience for those that want to immerse in the community, learn how we live out here, have a personal tour of the minefields, hear the stories and ask all the questions, you want, I will show you how to fossik for opal and how to get an authentic outback experience. Just shoot me a message and fill you in. The dugout features two double bedrooms a separate area with two single beds and an open plan. Upstairs you will find a sunroom with beautiful views and the bathroom area. We don't have air-conditioning or heating as we don't need it, the dugout stays warm even when it is freezing outside, its nature doing its job. you will see spectacular sunsets, incredible sunrises and the magnificence of our Milky Way at night. Staying at Desert Hideaway is an experience, I recommend more than one night if possible, ill point you in the right direction, you wan't be disappointed.

I am a down to earth friendly person who loves this outback place and can't wait to share it with you We are a friendly bunch and we want our visitors to really experience what it's like to be out here. Life can be tough, but kind, there isn't very many of us and we are all in it together, we need each other especially when things go wrong, there isn't a big town for 300kms so we have to be resilient and tough, and we have to laugh and have fun otherwise what is the point.
