The Mountainside Residence was newly built in 2024 and is located in the middle of the residential area of Spiez. Spiez, in turn, is close to attractive sights such as the Kandertal, the ski resort Adelboden/Lenk, the Beatushöhlen next to the suspension bridge of Sigriswil, and the Jungfrau region with Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, and Iseltwald. Spiez is located at the foot of the pyramid-shaped mountain "Niesen" and offers a wonderful view of the Sigriswiler Rothorn and the Beatenberg. The picturesque town of Thun, with its castle hill and Schadau Castle Park, is just around the corner and can also be reached from Spiez by boat. Right in front of the Mountainside Residence is the "Spiezwiler, Rössli" bus stop (10m), and within walking distance are the Felder bakery (50m, also open on Sundays), the VOLG village store (250m), and the Pronto gas station store (600m, open until 10:00 PM) right next to the ALDI. The Spiez train station can be reached by bus in 5 minutes, from where you can continue to the Spiez Bay with the small castle and the boat dock on Lake Thun. From Spiez train station, you can reach the old town of Thun by train in 10 minutes, and the city center of Bern or Interlaken East in 30 minutes. The journeys to the Kandertal to the Adelboden/Lenk area, the beautiful Blausee, and the impressive Oeschinensee take about the same time. On the other side of Lake Thun you will find the suspension bridge near Sigriswil and the Beatushöhlen. Within 45 minutes you can reach Grindelwald (Cliff Walk on First), Lauterbrunnen (Staubbach and Trummelbach Falls), the Aare Gorge (with the Richenbach Falls), or the Brienzer Rothorn (get to the summit by steam train). Within 90 minutes you can reach other interesting cities such as Lucerne, Lausanne, and Montreux. The airports of Zurich, Basel and Geneva can be reached in about 2 hours and 20 minutes (train and car are about the same speed). This is comparable to the journey to Zermatt.
