I was born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii, and moved to Costa Rica in the 90s, initially viewing it as another surfing adventure. However, I quickly fell in love with the waves, jungle, sunsets, and the warm hospitality of the Ticos, which reminded me of my own culture and ‘Ohana. I married a beautiful Tica, and together, we have three keiki (children). We founded Aloha Surf Nosara Vacations Rental, just steps from the ocean. We blend Hawaiian and Costa Rican cultures to make our guests feel E komo Mai (welcome) and safe—a true home away from home. I was also one of the first to establish a surf school and organize a surf tournament at Playa Guiones in 2003, inviting my friend Sunny Garcia, the Triple Crown Champion at the time.
