This venture / adventure has taken a long time to fulfill On the back of an old birthday card we wrote down the things that we wanted out of our life; to spend our time together, to live somewhere warm and to put our work ethic into something we wanted to do for ourselves….8 years later in the summer of 2018, it happened. La Paz del Caribe represents a dream fulfilled. Leaving our family, including 4 children and 6 grandchildren has been hard but we are making good friends in this unique place and of course are meeting new ‘family” and friends from all over the world who come to stay with us.

The property is accented at night with lighting throughout. Raised concrete sidewalks to avoid the puddles from the rain that inevitable comes living in the tropics. The temperature ranges from low of 20 in the evenings to highs of 30 in the day all year round. Even in the dry season you can expect a sudden shower, but the rain is warm. The accommodations are designed to allow a natural air flow to eliminate the need for artificial cooling from air conditioning. This keeps the temperature consistent and assists in assimilating into the tropic environment. The Bed and Breakfast is located about a 10-minute leisurely bike ride from the main town of Puerto Viejo. There are many restaurants and bars located along the strip from Manzanillo to Puerto Viejo for you to enjoy and explore. Our beach is a short 4-minute walk and the street is lit a night. You can walk to the town of Puerto Viejo along the beach if you prefer Puerto Viejo and the surrounding towns have a variety of music and entertainment venues. Local restaurants have cuisine from all over the world as well as local Costa Rican fares. options now available. . Don’t forget to try the Sodas, which are small family run restaurants that are reasonable with traditional Costa Rican food. There are several restaurants within walking distance, a new tapas and wine bar, a beautiful Italian restaurant, seaside restaurants and a local soda, with outstanding Caribbean food. Do not miss the Jaguar Rescue Centre where you can see baby monkeys and sloths. Ask us about a private tour to Cahuita National Park, Bri Bri indigenous Village and swim in the Waterfalls. All restaurants and venues are child friendly, so for the early evening no need for a babysitter.
