This apt is in one of the best locations in Santa Maria, Sal island, a fantastic position overlooking the pool and the ocean, and just a short walk from all the amenities of Santa Maria town. I use a wheelchair, so the apt has adaptions for this. All disabilities are different, so please contact me if you require specific adaptions e.g. bed risers. There is a wheeled shower chair to wheel into the shower from the bedroom. The bedroom is at the rear of the apt., so is nice and quiet at night. The kitchen has nearly every mod con you can think of: Drinking water filter, Fridge/freezer; Microwave, cafetiere, blender, toasted sandwich maker, various cooking pans, and good utensils. The bedding is good quality and there is a washing machine (but please try to be economical with water and electricity as it is expensive and in short supply). These things do get cut off from time to time, and also, the wifi can be patchy. Please remember this is not Europe and is normal for Cape Verde. The terrace is shaded by beautiful shrubs and will keep you and the apt cool in the heat of the day, although there is aircon on a timer. The apt is set up for self catering, but if you require laundry to be done for you, please contact my managers.

I am in my late 60's and had a horse riding accident in 1981, leaving me confined to a wheelchair. However, this does not stop me from getting around and I first visited Sal (and Boa Vista) in 2007. I have run several businesses including a computer staff agency, a farm (a small version of which my mother, 92, and myself still have), a farm shop, restaurant, tea room and bed and breakfast (the latter in the farmhouse). Following this, 2 campsites, one with coarse fishing lakes. It is lovely to come to the Cape Verde Islands in the winter. I really like to think my guests are comfortable and have everything they require for a memorable and enjoyable holiday.

The apt is in a small, friendly and secure gated complex, but close to all the amenities of Santa Maria town, including bars and restaurants for all tastes and prices. At the end of the street you can have a lunch - main course, sweet and drink for 6 euros. Down the road you can have a good sized dish of the day (2 choices) for 3 euros. Otherwise, there are more expensive beachfront restaurants offering lobster and other fantastic fish dishes. Burgers and pizzas abound. Visit the pier (10 mins walk) and buy fresh fish (just landed) each morning except Mondays. Even the supermarkets have good supplies these days (unless the ships can't dock because of rough seas).
