Welcome to the Übernachterei, your peaceful retreat in the picturesque town of Hüfingen in the southern Black Forest, where you can simply sleep, relax, and feel at ease. This lovingly renovated house combines warm family hospitality with thoughtful comfort across three unique holiday apartments, each with its own distinct character. Every unit invites you to unwind, whether it is the rooftop loft of s’ Kuckucksnest with its open-plan layout, west-facing balcony, and the feeling of being close to the stars, or the spacious heart of the house on the ground floor, featuring two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a generous terrace, and direct access to the garden. For a particularly quiet escape, s’ Stüble offers a cozy basement apartment overlooking the gently flowing River Breg, with a private seating area right in front of the house. Each apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bathroom with a window, twin or double beds (180 × 200 cm or 200 × 200 cm), and free Wi-Fi, making it ideal for relaxing or working. Modern amenities such as TVs in living and sleeping areas, as well as a washing machine and dryer in the shared laundry room, ensure a convenient stay. An eco-friendly pellet heating system creates a pleasant indoor climate and a cozy atmosphere. What makes the Übernachterei truly special is its warm and welcoming spirit. Hosts Annette Karban and Stefan Müller renovated the house with great care, consciously upgrading materials and focusing on sustainability, creating a place where authentic Black Forest charm meets mindfulness. Free parking, an information folder with excursion ideas, restaurant recommendations, and local insider tips make guests feel as if they are staying with friends who love sharing their home region. Whether you are traveling as a couple, with family, or simply seeking peace and comfort, you are warmly welcome here.
We are Annette Karban and Stefan Müller—a host couple with heart, down-to-earth values, and genuine Black Forest hospitality. Together with our three children, we live here in Hüfingen on the edge of the southern Black Forest. Our heartfelt project, the Übernachterei, is more than just a holiday home to us: it is a place we have created with great love to offer others space to sleep, relax, and feel truly at ease. With great attention to detail and joyful anticipation of our guests, we transformed an old little house into three charming holiday apartments.
What matters most to us is that our guests can leave their worries behind. We want your stay with us to feel like a true break from everyday life—far away from routines and stress, supported by the kind of thoughtful, unobtrusive care you would expect from friends. We are happy to welcome you personally upon arrival, be there for any questions, and share insider tips—whether for hiking trails, good restaurants, or quiet places to unwind.
Being hosts brings us great joy. It is the encounters with people from all over the world that continually inspire us—their stories, their relaxation, their sense of wonder at our home region. We renovated the old house not just to create apartments, but to create a home away from home: lovingly furnished, rich in regional charm, and complemented by modern amenities. For us, it is a gift to share the Black Forest and the beautiful town of Hüfingen with others.
When we’re not looking after our guests, we love hiking in the Black Forest, taking trips to nearby Lake Constance or to Switzerland, and spending time in the garden. We’re always happy to share our favorite places with you. We believe in personal connections, genuine warmth, and sustainable hospitality. At the Übernachterei, you are not just a guest—you are part of our small Black Forest family. We truly look forward to welcoming you!
Guests arriving at the Übernachterei immediately feel a special sense of space, openness, and calm. Hüfingen lies in the heart of the Baar, a gently rolling high plateau between the Black Forest and Lake Constance, known for its fresh air, wide fields, and relaxed pace of life. Many guests choose this location because it combines peaceful surroundings with excellent access to southern Germany’s most popular attractions. From Lake Constance and the Triberg Waterfalls to the historic old towns of Villingen and Rottweil, the region offers variety without crowds.
The Übernachterei is an ideal base for exploring the Black Forest in all its diversity. The Feldberg, the highest peak in the Black Forest, can be reached easily and offers panoramic hiking trails, nature experiences, and winter sports in the colder months. Lake Constance, with its Mediterranean atmosphere, the flower island of Mainau, the lively harbor of Constance, and the quieter shores near Radolfzell and Sipplingen are all perfect destinations for day trips. Freiburg and Switzerland are also within comfortable driving distance.
Families appreciate nearby nature trails, animal parks, the Danube Gorge, and engaging museums, while food lovers enjoy traditional Black Forest restaurants, regional specialties, and local wines. Business travelers value the convenient access to the A81 motorway and the short distances to Villingen-Schwenningen, Donaueschingen, and Rottweil.
A true insider tip for those seeking tranquility: the Baar is especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset, when warm light fills the landscape and the surroundings become wonderfully still. This unique mix of nature, authenticity, and accessibility makes the Übernachterei a place where arrival feels like a deep breath—ideal for a relaxing getaway, a business stay, or a restorative break in the Black Forest.
