Take a seat and relax in this quiet, stylish accommodation, ‘Harz-Urlaub-Altenau’ (Harz-Holiday-Altenau). We took over Karsten's former ‘Ferienwohnung Potthoff 2’ at the turn of the year 2025/2026. We are leaving the pretty loft apartment essentially as it is, with its modern Scandinavian style. We will be changing a few details in the near future, but the overall character will remain the same. Stay tuned, you will continue to feel at home here! You will soon find the first new pictures here. The flat is suitable for 2 people. An additional sleeping place for children on a folding mattress can be booked for a fee. The visitor's tax of three euros per adult per night is payable in cash when the keys are handed over or can be transferred in advance. The cleaning fee is included in the booking rate. Dogs are welcome on prior request, but cats and other animals are unfortunately not allowed. We charge a small additional cleaning fee per stay on site. The flat is on two levels connected by a staircase (6 steps). The living/dining area and balcony are on the lower level. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are on the upper level. The living area has a sofa, TV, CD music system, separate dining table with chairs and plenty of space. In front of the balcony, there is an extra seating area where you can relax with a glass of wine and look out over the Mühlenberg and towards Wolfswarte, even when the weather is bad. The small bathroom with shower/WC and window has everything you need. The kitchen is fully equipped with a 4-ring ceramic hob, oven, coffee machine and PAD machine, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, etc. The bedroom has a 160x200cm queensize bed, 2 bedside tables with 1 radio alarm clock and 2 lamps, and a large wardrobe, where you will find a safe, a vacuum cleaner and cushions for the balcony chairs. The flat comes with 1 free parking space + 1 garage for cars up to 1.95 m high, which can be used for a fee by prior arrangement.

I am a child of the 1970s, grew up in the Harz Mountains and completed my mechanical engineering studies at Clausthal University of Technology. I love nature and the Harz Mountains. Today, I live within easy reach of the Harz Mountains in Braunschweig and rent out our holiday apartment together with my wife Susann.

Our flat is located in a quiet side street on Glockenberg (not in the holiday park). It is about a 5-minute walk to the village, where there is a REWE supermarket, restaurants, hairdresser, baker and much more. It is only a 10-minute drive to Harz National Park. Within 10 minutes' walking distance, you can reach the local hiking trails of the Harz National Park, which start behind the Kristalltherme spa, for example. The Kristalltherme spa itself offers great relaxation in various saunas, the special brine pool and spa area, as well as excellent food and drinks in the adjoining restaurant. The Okerteich forest swimming pool is also ideal for outdoor swimming. The 16th-century St. Nikolai Church in the old town centre is well worth seeing, both inside and out. The Altenau Herb Experience Park, Germany's largest herb park, produces its own delicious spice blends and invites visitors to visit the spice gallery with its shop and café. The outdoor area of the park is open to all visitors from April to October. And if you want to visit other places in the Harz Mountains, then take a look at Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Braunlage, St. Andreasberg, Torfhaus, Goslar, Lautental and many others.
