The Cantueso complex is a small cluster of 10 one and two bedroom, air-conditioned, self-catering cottages able to accommodate from one to five people. There is also a spacious apartment sleeping up to seven. The clever site layout of the cottages, has plenty of quiet corners and makes them equally attractive to couples or families. Each has a self-contained terrace with BBQ and is surrounded by beautiful gardens with access to the large “soft-water” swimming pool. The views are a mix of lake and mountains and can be seen live on our webcam. All families are catered for with a trampoline, mini-golf, table tennis, table football, swings, slide and see-saw. And most importantly any family with a baby or small child will find useful specialist equipment available. These include buggies, highchairs, cots, sterilisers, baby baths, toys, bikes, baby alarms, books and lots more. One of the most praised things about our complex is the on-site restaurant. It means that when you don’t feel like cooking you can order a take-away meal or relax in the restaurant and bar. The cuisine is Spanish/Mediterranean, and all home-cooked by our professional team.

We are Alba and Sander and we are the new managers of Cantueso. We have been here since December 2022, when we took over a run-down business with lots of potential. Since then we have been steadily improving the cottages, gardens and restaurant. We have become especially family-friendly and try to anticipate every traveller's needs. The cottages are of course self-catering, but with an onsite restaurant you have the best of both worlds. We are able to cater for the many allergies and intolerances that diners have, and at the same time is environmentally friendly. We are very hands-on, and available every day to deal with customers, ensuring that their visit is a happy one and also to answer questions before you book.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the Costa del Sol is the pretty village of Periana, surrounded by mountains on three sides and lake views to the south. It is 540 metres above sea level and just 50 minutes from Málaga Airport. It has a sub-tropical climate and a myriad of wild flowers, almond and orange blossoms in spring, to rival any alpine meadow. In summer there is often a welcome breeze and the thermal currents over Lake Vinuela attract eagles and other birds of prey. Nature lovers will find much around this area to please, as there are many walks and cycle rides to be enjoyed, with unspoilt villages and ancient ruins to be explored. The beaches of Torre del Mar are just 25 minutes away and of course the Alhambra Palace in Granada is on most tourist’s agenda, but it is essential to book well in advance. Much in and around Periana is influenced by its past Moorish connections, as is the food and local specialities. You will find the locals very friendly and likely to give you oranges, avocado, almonds, figs, asparagus, and pomegranates, all of which grow seemingly wild in fields and alongside the lanes around the village.
