An apartment in the heart of Galicia. This large apartment occupies one floor in an old traditional house situated in the riverside village of Barra de Mino. It is ideally located with stunning views of the Rio Mino and the surrounding mountains. It is also only 10 kilometers to Ourense city and its many attractions. Perfect balance of pace for those looking to explore the countryside of the Ribeira Sacra and for the faster evening pace of city nightlife. This beautiful apartment is full of character and rustic charm. It sleeps up to eight people with two double rooms, two twin rooms (bunkbeds), three bathrooms, kitchen, kids room, dining room, and balcony. You also have access to the bodega/pool-table room, garden, and barbecue facilities. The perfect space to wind-down after a long day with a glass of vino or the local Café Liquor. The bright and airy double bedrooms also face the river with stunning views and have easy access to the balcony for your morning coffee!

I came to Galicia for a month-long cycling trip. That was back in 2017 and I’m still here! I immediately fell in love with the scenery, the people, the food, the perfect pace of life and decided to buy this house. I’ve been restoring it over the years, and it now includes modern shower facilities, a basement bar with a pool table, a wet room, and a restored garden with an industrial barbecue. I gratefully accept any advice on growing vegetables, planting vines, restoring furniture and the refined skills of soft furnishing. It´s a work-in-progress and I enjoy seeing the space evolve and meeting new people who help it grow. The intention is to organise retreats for artists, writers, cooks, yoga and meditation enthusiasts or anyone else who wishes to escape into the soft chaos of nature and village life. It’s a very large apartment with plenty of quiet spaces to retreat to for solitude or serious work. Although I'm from Dublin I'd be happy to share my limited but growing knowledge of the area and give ideas of what to do during your stay to make it an enjoyable experience.

The house is located in the quite village of Barra de Mino, 10 kilometers outside Ourense city. There is a shop/tabaco close by and provides everything you´d expect from a mini-market. There are two riverside bars five minute walk away with a games rooms, a children´s play park, and kayak rentals. The area also has great mountain walks and cycles. The beautiful Os Pearas is the next town up the river and situated within the dramatic backdrop where the Rio Mino and Rio Sil meet (see photos).
