Hostemplo was born in 2009 next to the Sagrada Familia, the result of a shared vision between Carlos Ruiz and Mila, then a couple and now business partners. Carlos, an architect from La Rioja who moved to Barcelona at 17, brought his passion for interior design to life, creating charming and functional spaces. Mila, born in Extremadura and raised in Barcelona, played a key role in shaping the interiors, as well as managing housekeeping and the cafeteria. What began as a small 10-room guesthouse grew into the Apart-Suites Hostemplo, and in 2015, the opening of the Hostemplo Boutique Hotel marked the consolidation of a unique hospitality model in the heart of the Eixample: close, urban and full of soul. The story continued with the arrival of their son, Miquel Ruiz, who began helping in the family business at the age of 14, learning every aspect of daily operations. He studied Tourism with a focus on Hotel Management at El CETT- UB in Barcelona and spent six months in Italy on an Erasmus exchange. In 2020, he played a crucial role in keeping the business afloat, gaining firsthand experience in leadership and resilience. Today, Miquel leads Hostemplo with a forward-looking mindset: preserving the family essence while driving innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and expansion. Hostemplo is not just a place to sleep. It is the result of a family story, driven by a passion for architecture, tourism, and people. As its name indicates, its greatest treasure is the work of the brilliant architect Gaudi, the Sagrada Familia, one of the most visited places in the world.
