Competa is a beautiful Andalusian village set within the stunning mountain range of Sierra Almijara. The village with its Moorish roots sits on the mountainside with amazing views, the pretty white washed houses line the winding, narrow streets and its relaxing squares form the heart of the village. The village is located 20 kilometres north of the coastline of Algarrobo Costa and 53 kilometres from the centre of Malaga, about an hour’s drive away. With the coast close by, there is plenty of opportunity to experience all sides of Andalusia. The village is wonderfully positioned beside a 4,000 hectare wildlife reserve, which incorporates the Sierra Almijara range. The area is particularly popular with wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers, who come to marvel at the eagles that roam the skies and is equally popular with walkers and cycling enthusiasts. Fortunately Competa enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate of hot summers and warm winters with an average of 300 days of sun a year. The proximity to the sea gives cooling breezes in the summertime. No 17, is newly refurbished and sits on a side street, a moments walk from the main square in Competa, The elegant townhouse has modern features with a nod to a Spanish theme. It is perfectly positioned for the numerous bars and restaurants in the area, all are within a short walk It has two bedrooms, one large double and one large king, both en-suite, The roof top terrace features a plunge pool and stunning views down through the mountain range and on to the coastline. There is a large open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area, perfect for socialising.

We are a working couple with a long term goal of retiring to Competa. We fell in the love with the property on first sight. In the heart of the square you can rise at your leisure and wander down to the square for croissant and coffee. Wherever you eat you are always welcomed and the locals passing by always say hello and even stop for a chat. We have met many wonderful friends here and it is a home from home. Everything is on your doorstep, sometimes we hire a car for the week and do not use it all whilst here. It really is a beautiful, tranquil place to relax, if you want activity it is right there on your doorstep if you want peace, quiet and solitude the house offers that too. The square has various visiting entertainment throughout the year, the Tapas bars on the square organise weekly bands and entertainment. Ferias and Fiestas are numerous, we love getting involved, be it Competa Art week, Competa Walking week or the Feria in July - a 4 day extravaganza. Competa is famous for it's wine, in August they celebrate Vino Del Noche with dancing, food and free wine. The house is just a short walk from all of these events. We love the house and Competa, we hope you will too!

The town house is located just a short stroll from the main square. There are many restaurants and tapas bars to sample in and around the square. Supermarkets, bakers, fishmongers etc are all nearby. There are boutique shops, hairdressers and beauty salons situated in the streets around the square. There are many operators nearby who offer tours and trips into the nearby Sierra Almijara Mountains. Competa is famous for its art and has numerous galleries to peruse.
