Château de Maucouvent is a small family chateau situated on 11 hectares of land in the quiet village of Challuy just 10 minutes from the centre of Nevers. It is very peaceful with a few grazing cows and horses that are fenced off. During the summer evenings in particular you can sometimes see small deer crossing the gardens as you dine on your terrace table.
The ground floor suite is ideal for families or couples as it is self contained and comprises a large master bedroom of 30 sq mtrs with an ensuite bathroom and a second adjoining bedroom of 14 sqmtrs (which shares the master bedroom's bathroom) and has 2 single beds with patio doors opening out onto the Suite's private terrace where there is a large round dining table with lovely views over the front garden and where you can take your meals. Please note that people using the smaller bedroom need to pass through the master bedroom to access the bathroom.
After running a local restaurant for 9 years where Andy was head Chef we decided to renovate our property and create a chambre d'hôte business- it had been our objective for some time. We have a passion for good food and wine. We offer a 'gourmet quality' table d'hôte including regional favourites such as fillet steak using the region's finest 'Charolaise' beef. The menu changes and can include Italian. Spanish, Chinese and Seafood dishes. Price ranges from 36 euros per head. Wine is not included in the price but we offer a good selection across a range of prices. We also offer a kid's menu prices from 12 euros offering options such as burgers, spaghetti carbonara and so on. We have tried to ensure a calm and tranquil environment in which you can enjoy good food and wine in a location which is minutes from Nevers centre, Magny Cours race circuit (10 minutes) and USON rugby stadium (5 minutes).
We are located in between Nevers and Magny Cours - about 10 minutes from the centre of Nevers and we are a 10 minute drive from the Magny Cours race circuit. We are also only about a 5 minute drive from USON (Nevers Rugby Club) as you drive in towards Nevers which makes us ideal for rugby visiting supporters to come and stay overnight or for a long weekend.
