There are two accommodations offered at Les Chambaudies Sud. A Cosy one bedroom detached COTTAGE sleeping up to four people and a Beautifully quirky VACATION HOME in old stone detached converted barn sleeping two people. All situated in ​beautiful wooded countryside. Each fully independent, with its own fenced garden, entrance and parking. Separated by large neutral courtyard, privacy guaranteed. The COTTAGE consists of a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area with stone fireplace with woodburner. It is well equipped. Bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower, toilet and washbasin. On first floor, one very large bedroom with one double bed, two single beds and baby cot. Outside, you can enjoy a large covered terrace with barbecue. The VACATION HOME consists of a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area with woodburner. It is well equipped. Bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower, toilet and washbasin. Laundry/pantry room. On a mezzanine floor above the bathroom and laundry room there is a large sleeping area with one double bed. Outside, you can enjoy a large covered terrace with summer kitchen, barbecue, pizza oven and garden furniture decorated with brocante finds

Karl loves the literally hundreds of lakes hidden among the forested hills. Two of the nearby lakes (2 minute walk) are at the disposal of the guests for carp fishing, on a no/kill no/fee basis. Streams and small rivers criss-cross the forest. Endless miles of forest paths await you, where you are more likely to see wild boar or deer than another human being. The area is a bird watcher's paradise with majestic birds of prey circling the skies above. The woods and fields are full of a fantastic variety of birds. Bird watching guests are amazed at the range of birds that can be seen from the terraces. In the village of Chateau Chervix (2 miles/ 3 kms), there is a small general food store with post office/bank facility and bar ,a bakery and a bar/restaurant . At about 8 miles / 12 kms there is a large supermarket with petrol station, doctors surgery, bakery, car repair garage, bars and several restaurants. You will be within easy reach of numerous beautiful sites to visit for which information is readily available at the cottage/barn: castles, prehistoric sites, gardens, sites of natural interest, medieval villages, river valleys of the Dordogne, Vezere, and many more.

The accommodations offered at Les Chambaudies Sud, roughly translated: The Beautiful South Lands, are situated in the great forest of Fayat, an ancient broadleaf woodland and rolling countryside. It is on a very quiet country lane serving only a few houses further up the lane. No through traffic as the lane loops back on itself. Nestled in a fold to the south side of the old hill fort of the Puy de Bar, now with its chapel and lookout at the summit. This is a beautiful, unspoiled corner, lost in France. The properties are detached fully renovated 200 year old farm cottage and barn both set in their own very large totally fenced gardens. The gardens have garden furniture, established trees, bushes, lawns, a small stream and pond. . The English owner's living quarters are across the road (not compromising the cottage or barn privacy). This means he will be available for first hand help and advice if needed, but he knows how to be discreet! Beyond the gardens are water meadows containing the owner's hobby farm with pygmy goats, ducks, chickens and rabbits running freely about.
