Labarthe Has now been open since September 2014 and our guests all agree the view is magnificent. Sitting in the garden is very tranquil but there are also many things to do and see in the immediate area. Our beautiful property is conveniently situated halfway between the Dordogne and Gironde rivers; because of their influence on the local weather and the local topography around Duras and Baleyssagues, we benefit from a micro climate which enables us to enjoy much better weather than areas 10 or 20 kilometers away. We are under three kilometers from Duras and its Chateau, one kilometer from Baleyssagues, and as for the vineyards – just walk to the edge of our lawn and you are in them!

The summer season is upon us and local events will shortly be in full swing. In addition to the daily farmers markets, the night markets have already started in some areas. Duras night market is every Thursday starting 7th July through to the first week in September. Here you can choose your evening meal from many street vendors and then sit back and enjoy the entertainment, dancing until midnight. Night markets can be found on most evenings of the week in a different village each night. There are many local vineyards in the Duras area, and with Bergerac and Bordeaux terrain on our doorstep you could be kept busy! Most are open for tastings, and some have organised events this summer including evening music events. Duras Chateau is open to visitors, climb the tower to experience some spectacular views. The Chateau also opens it's doors some evenings for a night time tour. A visit to the chocolate factory is a must for all you chocolate lovers, just two minutes from Duras, but they also have many good quality gifts for you to purchase.
