Montaurand is an 1890 Maison de maitre set in chestnut forests and fields and beautiful grounds filled with old trees. It has been decorated in Swedish Gustavian style by Swedish Interior Design to a very high and slightly eccentric standard and is filled with Swedish antiques and french brocante finds. The private suite is set at the back of the house with its own steps and looks out over the gardens and sheep fields. We have 4 norwegian forest cats and a king charles who live here and look forward to meet you so its definitely a house for animal lovers only! ( not to mention the 7 sheep and 7 chickens). The house was recently featured in the may 2017 issue of design magazine Jean D'arc Living , & loving brocante magazine. We serve a lovely french breakfast each day with fresh bread from the village boulangerie, croissants, cheese fruit and ham to start your day. Guests are asked to wear a mask in the grounds and public areas at all times, use hand sanitising gel on each entry to the house and when leaving the private suite & respect social distancing at all times for your safety and ours. Breakfast will be served outside to allow social distancing.

We have a long history of creating beautiful interiors and Montaurand is no exception - our last home featured in more or less every major interior design magazine worldwide and Montaurand will soon follow suit. We left the UK to create a sanctuary for ourselves in the middle of nature surrounded by beautiful things and animals - its a wonderful place to be. We love the gentle culture of the french countryside, the politeness , the quality of the food, the sunshine and our log fires in the winter time. We are open all year round so if you fancy a winter break, have a hot toddy by the fire! We love our peaceful life in the gentility of france and look forward to welcoming you into our special world. We also have a small brocante shop if you like to collect lovely french and swedish pieces - you can also see our full antique stock at swedish interior design

Set in the rolling chestnut forests of the charente high on a hill above the hamlet of Rougnac, we live in the midst of nature on the Charente/Dordogne Border. We are only 45 mins away from the wine regions of cognac and bordeaux and every weekend in the summer there are fantastic brocantes and markets to visit as well as a selection of local restaurants a short to medium drive away. You can get to Isle de Re in a couple of hours or drive around the picturesque villages of the Dorgogne. We have a fantastic private stables nearby where you can take riding lessons and we can arrange brocante tours for you to with a friendly local expert - our friend janie. Further afield, visit Perigaud, Brantome, Riberac, Aubeterre and the many other stunning villages of the region. There's plenty to do, loads to see and lovely food to eat - a great holiday at any time of year
