Informatie over de accommodatie
Bayview is a charming traditional East Neuk terraced house, built around 1840 and set in an elevated position less than a minute’s walk from St Monans harbour. From its upper floors you can soak up sweeping sea views across the Forth Estuary, while still being close to the village’s shoreline, coastal path, cafés and seafood spots. Spread over three levels with fast broadband and a private rear courtyard, it’s a lovely base for families or friends exploring the East Neuk and nearby St Andrews. Up to two dogs are welcome (terms and supplement apply).
On the ground floor, a hallway running front to back links the rear courtyard to two comfortable bedrooms. At the front, Bedroom 2 overlooks the planted rockery and is set up as a twin with two single beds, wardrobe, drawers and dressing table. At the rear, Bedroom 3 is a peaceful double room looking onto the courtyard garden.
The first floor is the sociable heart of the home. A modern, fully fitted dining kitchen spans the width of the house, with double windows framing fantastic sea views. There’s plenty of space for cooking and gathering, with integrated washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, separate freezer, electric oven, gas hob and microwave, plus a dining table for six, stripped wooden floor, carved fireplace, window seat and armchairs. Also on this level is a generous family bathroom with freestanding roll-top bath, 1.5-size shower enclosure, vanity basin and WC, along with a separate cloakroom with glass basin, WC and heated towel rail.
On the top floor, the bright master bedroom sits to the rear with a king-size bed, Velux window, storage and an armchair. At the front, an elegant lounge with shallow bay window makes full use of Bayview’s elevated position, offering wonderful sea views, leather sofas, club chair, traditional fireplace, Smart TV and DVD player – perfect for storm watching or cosy evenings in.
Informatie over de buurt
St Monans is one of the East Neuk’s most characterful fishing villages, wrapped around a traditional harbour and lined with white washed cottages and narrow lanes that lead down to the sea. Once a busy fishing and boat building port, it is now a peaceful coastal escape where you can watch the tides roll in, see working creel boats in the harbour and enjoy wide views across the Firth of Forth towards the Bass Rock and the Isle of May.
The village sits directly on the Fife Coastal Path, with beautiful walks west towards Elie and east through Pittenweem and Anstruther. Along the way you pass St Monans Parish Church set dramatically by the water, the old windmill and salt pans, the restored tidal pool and the clifftop ruins of Newark Castle, making this a lovely area to explore on foot at a relaxed pace.
Food and drink are a real highlight, with local seafood, cafés and farm produce available in and around the village, as well as nearby Bowhouse Market on selected weekends. Everyday essentials can be picked up locally or in neighbouring Anstruther, while golf enthusiasts have classic links courses at Elie, Anstruther and St Andrews within easy reach. St Monans is around twenty minutes by car from St Andrews, and regular bus routes run through the East Neuk, so getting around the coast is simple and convenient.
