Brampton Dales Farm has had several changes of use, there is evidence of "Ridge and Furrow" farming on two of the five fields which indicates that the villagers where using the land during the mediaeval period. Prior, during and after the Second World war our Top Field was used by successive waves of Polish refugees the British Air Force and into the Cold war by the US Air Force. There are three Air Raid Shelters and the footprints of many Nissen hits still visible, as many as 2000 airmen were stationed here during the war. The farm was inside the boundaries of Sturgate Air field and through the opening of our Bed and Breakfast is a comfortable stop for flyers and aircraft owners.
Today, Marian and Hugh run the farm and Bed and Breakfast. You will find horses and sheep wandering around the farm from time to time as well as wild game birds and other natural wild life. From time to time it’s possible to catch a glimpse of the wild deer that come across the land and graze in the trees surrounding out ten-acre field. Marian is a keen horse woman and happy to show off her horses and help guests who bring their horses to the farm. We can accommodate horses in transit with separate turn out field and stables; and arrange for contacts with the local farriers and vets if needed.
Rural Lincolnshire, and close to Sturgate Airfield. Our farm is set back from the roads and is very quiet. Within striking distance of Gainsborough, Retford, Lincoln and only 22 miles from Nottinghamshire Showground at Newark. A place to stop with secure off road parking, we can accommodate horse boxes and lorries on concrete and tarmac hard standing.
