Chantry Cottage is a charming 18th century cottage on the beautiful Newby Hall Estate, one of England’s finest Adam Houses with award winning gardens. The cottage has been newly re-furbished and landscaped to allow our guests to enjoy the beautiful setting and the cottage’s historic charm in comfort, offering the perfect, cosy get-away. Outside, guests have their own enclosed garden and furnished terrace directly outside the kitchen, or they can follow the path from the garden gate to a private terrace built into the garden walls with spectacular unspoilt views of the Dales and Ripon Cathedral. The cottage accommodation consist of; a main sitting room with log burner and smart TV, a snug also with log burner and smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen with door opening out in to the garden and terraces, a downstairs loo and utility / boot room with washing machine and dryer. Upstairs is a light, south-facing master bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room with wash basin, a small pretty single room with views of the gardens, a double bedroom with Dales views and a family bathroom with washbasin, loo and shower over the bath.

Givendale Cottages are run by Tom and Shanie Robinson with a little help from their four daughters; Polly, Tessa, Jemima and Tilly, and their friendly spaniel Billy. The family lives in the farmhouse next door to the cottages and will be there to help whenever needed, but will give guests complete privacy to enjoy an undisturbed home-away-from-home experience.

Givendale Cottages are just a 5-minute drive to the Cathedral city of Ripon and a 10-minute walk to Ripon racecourse, we are a 25-minute drive to the Spa town of Harrogate and 30 minutes to both The Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors. You can walk or cycle up to the house, gardens and restaurant at Newby Hall (guests enjoy a 25% discount). The Blackamoor pub is also within short walking distance, or cycle across the estate to the, soon to be opened, community-run Black Lion pub in the village. We are also on the Tour de Yorkshire cycle route for the more adventurous cyclist. The cottages have two allocated parking bays and a bicycle lock-up next to the car park. Positioned only 10 minutes drive from the A1 and 20 minutes from Thirsk train station on the mainline from London to Edinburgh and Inverness, Givendale cottages are easily accessible from all parts of the country.
