A traditional stone built terraced dales cottage in the quiet village of Aysgarth in wonderful Wensleydale. On the ground floor there is a comfortable lounge with TV, CD, DVD and internet router. The main feature however is the open fireplace. We will leave you a basket full of logs; if you need more bags of logs are available at Aysgarth Garage, a few minutes walk away. Go through to the back and you find a modern kitchen complete with Washing Machine and Dish Washer, a full cooker, a modern combi oven microwave and grill and ample kitchen equipment. Keep going out of the back door into a fully enclosed rear garden, The great thing here is that you can let your pooch out in total safety as the garden has no means by which he/she can escape. There is also a barbecue and some pine garden chairs out on the patio. Upstairs, the the King Sized bed room and magnificent new bathroom with a large corner bath and separate shower cubicle in the opposite corner are accessed by a fairly steep staircase. This probably would not suit guests with restricted mobility. Indeed, Cherry Tree Cottage, has just about every amenity for your stay in Wonderful Wensleydale. The only thing it doesn't have is a Chery Tree1
Nick and Clare live in the nearby village of Askrigg, Home to the original series of All Creatures Great and Small. They came to live in the dales around ten years ago and just like you will they never wanted to leave.
Aysgarth is home to the world famous Aysgarth Falls just 1000m away and the Aysgarth Rock Garden right accrss the road. Contrary to Kirsty’s review: THERE ARE TWO EXCELLENT PUBS in the village A great base for two for sight seeing, walking or just chilling. The village has two great pubs and three tearooms/ cafes. The cottage is located in the centre of the village of Aysgarth in beautiful Wensleydale. Within 10 mins on foot you can either be in the open countryside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, visiting the world famous Aysgarth Falls or in the George and Dragon our traditional dales pub. Aysgarth is also at the centre of The Yorkshire Dales UN International Dark Sky Reserve for superb star gazing on clear nights or even, with increasing frequency, viewing the northern lights in the winter. For a rural area we have great communication links: There is ample on street parking in Aysgarth. There is a parking area immediately in front of the cottage where there is usually space. There is a bus that goes up and down the length of the dale from Leyburn to Hawes (Its called "The Little White Bus", unfortunately a change of equipment recently means that two of them are "Little Silver Busses". In the Summer you can even catch a steam train up and down the dale from Redmire station just across the other side of the River Ure. Actually its only called The Ure if you are an Anglo Saxon. You will also see it referred to as The Yore its Viking name. We have super fast broadband in Aysgarth and WiFi throughout the cottage. Linked to the tv or plug into your device and you can stream all your favourite programs on demand. But why would you? If the night sky is clear, there will a free show. Go out the back and watch our Galaxy the Milky Way stretch from left to right in front of your very eyes.
