Cissy's Cottage is a delightful stone built cottage of unique character. A traditional dales cottage still retaining the best of its original 18th century features. With it's open fire, beamed ceilings, flagged flours and thick stone walls, it preserves a warm and cosy atmosphere. Furnished in keeping with the cottage, there is a sitting room with the open fire and a dinning area. Sit at the table and look out over the fields and fells. The kitchen, is totally unique, having a semi-circular wall and still retaining the crescent shaped stone shelves. It contains a free standing oven, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. Upstairs, there are 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded room along with a family bathroom, Outside there is a south facing front garden, looking over the village, with a patio and in the back there is a large grassed garden again with a patio and just the fields beyond. Sit out in the spring and watch the lambs playing.
Hardraw is a small village just 1 mile away from Hawes, as the crow flies! The village is famous for Hardraw Force the largest single fall, waterfall in England. The river then flows through the village and on to join the River Ure. In the village there is a pub, and on the other side of the bridge there is a café, and church along with a felt artists studio. In Hawes, the market town of upper Wensleydale, you will find everything you need and also the creamery making the cheese. There is a market held each week on it's cobbled streets, the is a folk museum and lots of interesting small shops. The dales offer attractions for all ages, being rich in picturesque walks from riverside to moor top, walking amongst the sheep and over the limestone crags and scars. The Pennine way runs through Hardraw village, for the more serious walkers. Stroll through the meadows, along side the rivers and streams to discover the many delights on offer. There are places with historical interest too, Castle Bolton, Middleham Castle and many towers, abbeys and historical houses open to visitors. A remote and beautify land that has preserved it's age old traditions. offering a peaceful way of life whose rhythm is dictated by nature, the weather and above all the hills - a wonderful and stimulating place for a relaxing holiday.
