Your host is the lovely Georgie, who has lovingly restored the cottage to the glorious holiday home it is today. Full of thoughtful extras to make your stay a memorable one.
George's cottage was built by Georgie's Great Grandfather (George) in 1900 and has been renovated to the highest standard to provide a lovely base to explore Derbyshire and The Peak District. This 19th Century country cottage has great views of the Iconic Bamford Edge and Win Hill.
Bamford is an attractive village and popular visitor destination close to walking routes and the reservoirs. The village has a small number of local shops, a petrol station, as well as pubs and accommodation, including the well regarded and multi-award winning 'Yorkshire Bridge Inn'.
There is lots going on with arts events, annual sheepdog trails, carnival and a well dressing in the village. The Upper Derwent Visitor Centre is just 500 metres from the Derwent Dam and acts as a focus for the two million walkers, cyclists and tourists that make the journey into this beautiful valley each year. Cycle and mobility scooter hire, refreshments, and gift shop. Ladybower Fishery and Severn Trent Water welcome fly-fishing, rowing boats can also be hired for fishing.
