Gorse Farm House B&B lies in rural seclusion, in the peace and quiet of North Dorset and some two miles south of the town of Sturminster Newton. The location is unusually quiet with no light pollution and little or no traffic noise. Opened in 2009 it has been extensively renovated and is an extremely comfortable place to stay. The ensuite bedroom has five windows which makes it very light, there is a sofa for relaxation and the bathroom has a rather luxurious roll-top bath. The double room with private bathroom is also very light and airy and the bathroom has a bath and power shower. Both rooms have countryside views, a mix of garden, farmland and woods, which make for great walking country. Guests are made to feel at home and benefit from an excellent breakfast at a time that suits them, access to a large garden and covered parking.

We bought Gorse Farm House wanting to do B&B. Having refurbished it ourselves, a labour of love, then furnished it accordingly, we opened our doors to guests with great excitement. Now, many years later, we still greatly enjoy the variety of guests who choose to stay in this wonderful part of Dorset. Everyone has a different story to tell and it’s great to have a chat over that first cup of tea. A particular stand-out feature of staying at Gorse Farm House are all the wonderful woodcarvings/sculptures around the house and garden created by Lee in his workshop here. A great skill which has to be admired.

Gorse Farm House B&B lies two miles south of Sturminster Newton, a small market town. It offers all the amenities expected of a small town, but also boasts a town museum, an historic flour mill on the banks of the River Stour and The Exchange Arts Venue that hosts a fantastic array of events. North Dorset is predominantly a farming area on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so is a peaceful location. However, it is very accessible to all the attractions of Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire and not forgetting the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
