The property - a 3 storey Georgian townhouse - dates from 1780, one of the oldest building in Stockwell, SW central London Its been the vicarage building of Stockwell Church for nearly 200 years and is now listed, grade 2. We have restored this property to its former glory uncovering marble fireplaces that had been painted over with white paint and lovely wooden floor boards in the process....
We live with our German pointer doggy Bruno in Griffin House, named after the two Griffins at the bottom of the front stairs. We love living here and love having guests to stay in our two holiday apartments which occupy one entire floor each of the building We both love gardening too and if you stay you'll probably see us weeding or maybe tending the chicken who live in an 'eglu' at the bottom of the garden or the turtles in our pond If you've got a question about the capital, don't hesitate to ask. Additional to English Nic speaks Spanish and French, (Nic is teacher in Modern Languages) Ben speaks German (as Austrian) and works for a management consultancy.
We are located in Stockwell, an up-and-coming area of London. There are 3 underground stations each of a similar distance and takes approx 5 mins walk from the property. It takes a then 8 - 10 mins tube journey to reach the West End and all major sights. There is also a bus stop just opposite us with frequent buses to the centre. We are opposite a small supermarket and have great local pubs. We are between Clapham and Brixton. Clapham boasts more than 50 restaurants at the nearby bustling Clapham High Street. Brixton, one of London's new trendy areas is 5-minutes walk the other way. Here you'll find Brixton Village, a Victorian former market hall that's' been turned into a must-visit destination with a couple of dozen restaurants, bars and vintage shops packed into its colonnades. And there's Pop Brixton, a fantastic new venture that showcases street food from around the world along with cute vintage shops in a complex made of sea containers with a central seating area where you can listen to live bands and some great djs..
