The Old Barn, Higher Kellacott Cottage is situated in a tiny Devon hamlet, where you'll find a small handful of thatched cottages along a narrow country lane. Nestled in a beautiful stretch of Devonshire countryside with far-reaching views to Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, the barn is set apart above the rest of the property in an elevated situation overlooking fields to the horizon. The large upper deck will ensure you'll be basking in the sun from morning till sunset. If you're looking for a quiet escape to recharge your batteries and revitalise your mind, this tranquil setting will be perfect for you. Our newly rennovated cobble barn has a table tennis table and a display of our home produce for guests to purchase. Guests are also welcome to use this space for Yoga or meditation.
My husband David and I enjoy walking on Dartmoor, wild swimming, table tennis, cycling and body boarding. When not on the moors or working on our home, garden and fields, we enjoy family life, catching up with friends, listening to music, reading a good book, listening to the cricket and all things history. I also enjoy National Hunt horse racing. Cooking, home curing bacon and smoked salmon are also interests I pursue. David has been a beekeeper for 30 years and we now run our Nearly Home Honey & Beekeeping business from Higher Kellacott, with an apiary on one of our fields.
The Cottage is just 5 minutes' drive from the A30, making it easy to explore the local area. Dartmoor National Park is just a 20 minute drive, whilst Roadford Lake, with all it's watersports, walking and cycling facilities just a 10 minute drive. There is horse riding locally, plus Launceston, Tavistock, Okehampton and many local villages ensuring that shopping and eating out are all easily within reach.
