Holly Cottage is a delightful cosy cottage built from classic Cotswold stone and set in the picturesque village of Ampney Crucis on the outskirts of Cirencester, the "capital of the Cotswolds". This stylish bolthole features a wood burning stove, a gloriously light-filled oak beamed conservatory, luxurious beds and a south facing enclosed garden, making it an ideal place to relax and unwind.

Simon was born in the Cotswolds far too many years ago and came back to live in this idyllic area after stints working as a management consultant in the USA, South America, Southern Africa and the Caribbean. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the Cotswolds and is keen for guests to find and use all the best that the local area has to offer.

The village of Ampney Crucis is the largest of three "Ampneys" named after the brook of that name. The village dates back to Roman times, with many buildings of great historical and architectural interest. Within the village Holy Rood Church, is well known for its 15th century cross in the churchyard, while The Crown is a stylish 16th century inn serving great food by the banks of Ampney Brook. The historic market town of Cirencester with its many shops, bars and cafés is just 3 miles away, while the 180 lakes of the Cotswold Water Park provide opportunities for sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and all sorts of sports just 7 miles away. Other points of interest within easy reach include Westonbirt Arboretum (20 miles), Tetbury (15 miles), Bibury (10 miles), the Slad Valley (10 miles). Local walks through beautiful Cotswold villages, antique hunting, great local pubs and driving through the astonishing countryside make for relaxing country weekends throughout the year.
