Hope Cottage is a charming detached stone cottage in the South Cotswolds village of France Lynch. It has a sunny terrace and lovely views across the valley. Inside there are period features (beams, woodburner) alongside all mod cons, including efficient central heating and hot water. There is great walking direct from the door or further afield. Please be aware that some of the lanes around here are very narrow, and be careful using satnav or google maps to find the cottage - make sure you come up the Old Neighbourhood from the A419, to avoid being brought into the village via a very narrow, awkward lane. My name is Sarah and I own Hope cottage with my husband Mat. We bought it in 2012 and it underwent extensive renovation before we began welcoming guests. We don't live on site, but are five minutes drive away in a neighbouring village.
This is a beautiful area, with plenty to explore locally, but a 15 minute drive from local towns like Stroud and Cirencester, with Cheltenham slightly further afield and cities like Bristol and Bath accessible within an hour. There is a great cafe called the Lavender Bakehouse in Chalford (a 15 minute walk away, with a steep climb up the hill on the way back) and the Jolly Nice cafe on the way to Cirencester serves great coffee as well as excellent food and a variety of locally sourced produce (cheese, meat, gifts etc). There are restaurants in both Stroud and Cirencester and many of the local pubs serve good food, including the Kings Head, which is a very short walk away. Other pretty Cotswold towns which are worth a visit include Nailsworth and Painswick, and further north there are the popular tourist destinations of Burford, Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-the-Marsh and Broadway.
