The Dorset Echo newspaper recently published a large article about our family and guest house on Thursday, 18 April 2024 on page 7: 'The enterprising family have opened up Jurassic Bays Holidays in Ranelagh Road, Weymouth, with the unusual accommodation drawing upon the theme of Dorset's coastline. And each family member is playing their part in the business, which operates as an automated guest house and opened at the end of last month. Allison Lea and her husband Frank are running the business with Allison's sons, Joseph Chan and Adam Chan, who both have autism. The business model within the home has been tailored so that Allison’s children can manage the business themselves.' ''Due to their disabilities they struggle with face-to-face communication- but with this system it allows them to socialise and work but without the face-to-face contact.' Part of this sees guests given freedom as the house offer 24/7 check in and check outs with electronic codes and a computerised system. 'Not offering traditional cooked breakfasts, each room has a fridge, and there are also microwaves and toasters to allow families to save on costs, according to Allison.'

Most suites have their own private under-counter fridges, otherwise a lockable private fridge box is provided in the lounge. All rooms have a smart satellite full HD TV and all guests enjoy free full fibre internet. Our fantastic games lounge includes a new tournament quality pool table, 55" satellite TV and freeplay retro 80s arcade machine with over 2,000 games. Some of our more mature guests may relive nostalgic moments from the past with games such as Space Invaders, Asteroids, Galaxian, Defender and Pac-Man. We operate a fully automated 24 hour check in/out system, so if you want to arrive in the early hours, you can let yourself in using key codes and via a private safe, for use during your stay. Check-out is simple via the key return box. We cater for families, couples and individuals; but no hen or stag parties. View our collection of real and rare fossils and meet 'Dianasaur' in the lobby, an actual cast of a small T-Rex skull. Enjoy our scenic wall murals and discover how to hunt for your own fossils using our lobby information and guides. Adjacent to Weymouth's train station and under a 10 min walk to the main bus depot - car not necessary. Weymouth's sandy bay is a 5 min stroll. The Esplanade and Harbour are lined with seasonal attractions: arcades, fairground & donkey rides and an abundance of cafes, pubs & restaurants. Alternatively, why not make a short trip to experience fossil hunting, or book a jet ski, rib ride or fishing trip (10-15 mins walk) and soak up the beautiful Jurassic Coast scenery?
