Kingsley House dates back to 1906 when it first opened as a hotel. Today it has been fully restored and now offers a peaceful stay within two acres of private grounds. The house sits two miles from Haslemere station with direct trains to London Waterloo from 47 minutes. It feels quiet and rural yet still suits guests travelling for work or leisure. You have use of several generous communal areas. • A drawing room with a wood-burning stove and comfortable seating for relaxed evenings. • A panelled dining room where breakfast is served each morning. • Outdoor patios and garden furniture set around the grounds for a peaceful time outside. The South Downs are close by, with long walks through rolling countryside, charming pubs, and excellent dining options all on the doorstep. Further afield, you’ll find Goodwood (horseracing), Cowdray Park (polo), and a selection of renowned golf courses and vineyards producing England's finest sparkling wines. Each room at Kingsley House is designed for comfort with extra space to unwind. • Bedroom 1. A dual-aspect room with a sitting area and en-suite shower room. • Suite 3. A large suite with a separate sitting area, dressing room, and generous en-suite shower room. • Suite 5. A spacious room with a separate sitting area and an en-suite shower room. The suite has a private terrace with views of the south-facing gardens. All stays at Kingsley House include access to the drawing room, cinema, patios, and gardens. A guest cloakroom is located on the ground floor. Coffee or tea are brought to your room each morning. Freshly made breakfast using local produce is served in the dining room, and you're welcome to relax by the fire or spend quiet time in the garden. Kingsley House is designed to help you feel at home. Whether you’re here for work, a countryside break, or simply to relax, we adapt to your needs.
We’re Craig and Duncan, and we've stayed in some amazing places around the world. More recently and often with our gentle Great Dane, Hudson, in tow, we've been exploring the best places to stay in the UK. We’ve poured everything we’ve learned about great hospitality into creating Kingsley House. For us, the joy of hosting is about seeing our guests instantly relax, whether that’s with a glass of wine on the terrace, a cosy evening by the fire, or a day out exploring the South Downs. Our favourite part is helping each stay feel effortless: arranging a dinner reservation, pointing you towards a vineyard or country walk, or simply giving you the space to switch off. Nothing is too much trouble, and we love knowing our home adapts to whatever pace you choose.
One of the best things about Kingsley House is that while we’re tucked away in peaceful countryside, you’re never far from something wonderful to see, do, eat, or explore. Right on the doorstep, you’ll find the South Downs National Park with endless walking trails, local English wine vineyards, charming country pubs, and the Haslemere Museum—founded by the original owner of Kingsley House. Historic towns and castles nearby include Arundel with its spectacular castle and riverside setting, Farnham with independent shops and its own castle, and Guildford, the county town of Surrey, with excellent shopping, restaurants, and Guildford Castle gardens. For food and drink lovers, Silent Pool Gin Distillery offers award-winning tours and tastings, Cowdray Park is famous for its polo, farm shop, and ruins, while Goodwood is home to horse racing and motorsport events. Closer still, Haslemere is a delightful town with boutique shops, cafés, and a Saturday market, while Petworth is perfect for antiques and art. ✨ In short: you'll love the blend of countryside seclusion with so many attractions, castles, vineyards, and towns just minutes away from Kingsley House.
