Morwenstow is the most northerly parish in Cornwall. As well as the church town (a hamlet called Crosstown famous for the Bush Inn and Rectory Tea Rooms), other settlements in the parish include Shop, Woodford, Gooseham, Eastcott, Woolley and West Youlstone. Morwenstow parish is bounded to the north and east by parishes in Devon, to the south by the Cornish parish of Kilkhampton and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean. The River Tamar has its source at a spring on Woolley Moor near the border with Devon.

The estate also boasts a 15 acre ancient woodland, which is alive with wild flowers, birds and a meandering stream. The estate is also surrounded by unspoiled open countryside and beautiful walks and cycle rides. The land borders the Coombe Valley where the river enters the sea at the National Trust beach Duckpool, which is 1.5 miles away. The next nearest beach is Sandymouth which again is owned by the National Trust and is about 3 miles away. This is a huge sandy beach as the name implies with car parking, surf hire and a cafe on site. Other recommended beaches nearby include Summerleaze one of the two beaches in Bude which has sand dunes, a seawater swimming pool, a large car park and plenty cafes and Widemouth Bay (pronounced "Widmuth") which is 3 miles south of Bude and offers 2 stunning beaches stretching approximately 1.5 miles with excellent facilities and a number of surf schools.
