A 10 minutes walk down the hill is the former Richmond Station, now a wonderful venue housing a cinema, art gallery with changing exhibitions and the fantastic Shop at the Station, alongside food and drink businesses including The Angel's Share Bakery, and Archer's Jersey Ice Cream. From the station, there's a beautiful and relatively flat 4 mile walk along the river Swale towards the ruins of Easby Abbey. Britain's most complete Georgian playhouse, built in 1788 is the Georgian Theatre Royal found on Victoria Road has a full performance programme and hosts theatre tours to see behind the scenes. A 2 minute walk away. Kiplin Hall, near Northallerton Built by George Calvert, Secretary of State to James I, in the early 1620s as a hunting lodge. Kiplin Hall is a unique Jacobean house filled with the furniture, portraits, paintings, and the personal belongings of the four families who have owned the Hall the past 400 years.
