elcome to Penzer cottage, 50 meters from the beach, tucked away down a small quiet passageway convenient to all facilities, purchased after spending many years visiting the magic of the village and West Penwith. We instantly decided it was exactly what we had dreamed of owning. It has been a labour of love to incrementally upgrade it. Initially it was cold, damp and draughty in the winter but double glazing, a modern wood burner and central heating have made it warm and cozy. We decided on a discrete naval décor. There is a large porch which is a great advantage. Shoes can be removed and stored on the shoe rack and outdoor clothing hung up, avoiding sand and mud in the cottage. There is a small hallway into the kitchen with a door to the wet room so kids can get clean in the large rain shower after a day on the beach. Most people are surprised when they enter the bright and airy kitchen/diner and catches the morning sun. The cottage runs north to south and the sun brightens the kitchen in the morning and in the afternoon light beams in from the window in the sitting area. The open plan room extends into the sitting area where the wood burner provides extra warmth though the central heating is sufficient. There is a large screen TV, Sky TV and a sound bar for your music. The open stairs rise from the kitchen to the upstairs floor. The bathroom is entered off the half landing. The washer/dryer is in the laundry cupboard off the bathroom. Clothes can be hung to dry on hangers above. Its a great advantage to have a toilets both upstairs and down. The main blue bedroom has dual aspect windows giving sunshine through the day. There is a TV to watch later at bedtime. The green bedroom has twin beds and a travel cot for younger kids. There are limited views across Mount Bay to the Lizard from both bedrooms. Outside there is a small patio for the exclusive use of guests in the summer with table and chairs. Our cleaner, Gemma, keeps the cottage clean to a high standard.
My wife and I have a deep emotional attachment to the cottage and location. She describes it as her spiritual home. She introduced me to archeology and we have explored all the stone age sites in West Penwith and the Isles of Scilly. We love exploring the coastal path starting from Mousehole and round through Lands End and down the North Coast of the Peninsular to St Ives. Most of it is owned by the National Trust and can be accessed from the sub tropical valleys off the north and south road of the peninsular. We love being able to host to visitors and families and share our passion for the village and the area. The beaches are very special and our son loves exploring them all and their unique characteristics. We take our responsibility to our guests very seriously and understand that holidays are very important to us all and hope to make your stay as uplifting and comfortable as possible. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Mousehole hasa magic quality like no other village. There is a passeggiatta , or walkabout, after dinner much like in Italy, Visitors like to dress in their finish and look at the gift shops or enjoy ice cream or stop for a drink at the pubs. Kids can be seen in the beach playing ball games and building sand castles through the day in tne summer. It's fun to investigate the nooks and corners and hidden gems like the Mousehole cave and maybe take the bus into penzance. the walk to Lamorna is a must where lunch can be enjoyed at the Wink pub or teas and snacks at the cafe overlooking the harbour. Also a short climb up the hill to the village of Paul which has a great pub with good food. You might wish to walk into Newlyn along the coast which has lovely views over Mounts Bay. The Coop there is the nearest small supermarket and there is a chip shop and the popular restaurant Mackerel Sky.
