I love Southwell, and I'm sure you will too! You may have guessed from my hair colour, that I am of Scottish descent, and there will be evidence of that in one of the apartments! See if you spot the clues. ;-) I spent my late teens in Southwell, and had a fantastic time. Having moved away, I was later drawn back, as it's such a special place to live. You'll see. I absolutely love hosting. I have the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life, from all corners of the globe. My mission is quite simply to do all I can to make sure that each of my guests have the perfect stay in my apartment, whether it be for business or pleasure, and using my local knowledge, I try to make suggestions about local attractions to make sure my guests make the most of their stay, and miss nothing. I shall tell you all about the stunning neighbourhood when you arrive, but just to give you a teaser: Top of my list of neighbourhood recommendations, has to be the breathtaking Southwell Minster, which is just 2/3 minutes walk away. To see it all lit up in the evening in its grand splendour, is a sight to behold. Constructed in 1824, by the Rev John Becher, one of the first ever Workhouses, sits on the edge of the town, and is now run by the National Trust. Here, you can learn about the harsh life lived by the poor, where families were separated and expected to work hard to pay for their keep. Southwell is set in the heart of 'Robin Hood' country, and the famous Major Oak tree, is only a short drive away. It sits, now protected, amongst many ancient trees in the vast and gorgeous Sherwood Forest. The city of Nottingham boasts its own castle, together with a pub carved out of the castle rock itself, and historic caves below, is a short drive away. If you fancy a market, do visit the town of Newark, which is 15/20 minutes drive away. Steeped in history, and located on the River Trent, it has a Civic War Centre, Air Museum, and its very own castle by the River.
