Caol, pronounced "cool," is a picturesque lochside town nestled between Fort William and the Gulvain mountain range. The Caledonian Canal, which runs through the village's north-west corner and provides an easy access to adjacent sights such as Caol Beach, Neptune's Staircase, and Old Inverlochy Castle, is famed for its magnificent vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges. There are two takeaways, Sammy's Fish & Chip Shop and The Golden River Takeaway, as well as The Lochy, a traditional bar and restaurant, and a neighbouring convenience shop where you can fill up on basics.
