If cooked breakfast is preferred this can be arranged with prior notice. Clapton is a few minutes drive from the market town of Hungerford, famous for its antique shops. The Watermill Theatre is nearby with a calendar of first class plays and entertainment. Highclere Castle, brought into the spotlight by Downton Abbey, is just a short drive away. For the more active there are wonderful walks on the doorstep and along the Ridgeway and on Combe Gibbet, plus endless cycling. For race goers Newbury Racecourse is on the doorstep as well as viewing opportunities of racehorses in the nearby Valley of the Racehorse in Lambourn, home to numerous famous National Hunt and Flat yards.
