Information correct at the time of writing. Powerstock is a quiet farming village located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty deep in the West Dorset countryside. For those who love walks and nature, there are walks in every direction - head to Eggardon Hill which lies about 1.5 miles south-east of the village. On the summit is a 14 hectare Iron Age Hill Fort with amazing views of Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Lyme Bay, or discover the ancient woodland of Powerstock Common. Circular walks from Powerstock take in large sections of disused railway line, ideal for cycling. The village is mentioned in the Doomsday book and sits at the foot of Eggardon Hill. In the centre is the 15th century Norman church, and just beyond is the popular Three Horse Shoes public house with excellent local food and beer and a south westerly terrace overlooking the valley. The bustling market town of Bridport is five miles away and has many restaurants and cafes and a street market every Wednesday and Saturday with a great array of local produce, as well as a selection of shops selling antiques and vintage curios should you wish to seek out some treasures. It is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast, the first natural World Heritage Site designated in England. The lovely cliffs at West Bay, made famous by ITV's 'Broadchurch', are just south of Bridport with a popular beach with lifeguards through the summer and a fantastic spot for crabbing over the harbour walls. Lyme Regis and Burton Bradstock (National Trust) are a short drive each way along the rugged coastline. Weymouth with it's large sandy bay is also within an easy drive.
