The property has a landmark setting under a viaduct on the edge of Whitby and countryside including the lovely riverside hotspot of Ruswarp village with boating, fishing, restaurants and a pub. It's position on the cinder track gives a 15 minute walk to central Whitby, and some lovely longer walks/rides to Sandsend or the amazing Robin Hoods Bay (2 hours with some pubs along the way). That alone is enough to fill a fab weekend but you also have the NY Moors national park, Whitby, Scarborough and Dalby Forest nearby and parking right outside the cottage. It's on a holiday home park with a shared pool (10 pound charge per short stay for a key - necessary to keep pool use private to this resort), small playparks and BBQ areas next to the tidal river Esk with an on site slipway. The NYMR steam railway trains comes past regularly most of the year. The property has been recently renovated to a high standard to include a large bath/shower with good head height (to suit the owner who is 6 foot 3), corner style sofa, quality beds (king size medium firm master) and new kitchen. Despite this it is very reasonably priced for couples or a family of 3 or 4 to have a wonderful stay. There is a basic free on-site wifi for keeping up to date but not recommended for streaming. A key for the laundry room is a little extra. We accept 1 medium-sized, house-trained family type dog without question but need to be notified which helps us add rugs, bowls, throws etc. Multiple dogs, large or dangerous breeds or highly energetic working kinds may not be suitable for a small newly renovated property so we welcome a conversation to ensure peace of mind both sides. Dogs should not be upstairs, in the bath, generally muddy or on unprotected furniture.

My name is possibly the most famous in Whitby but I grew up 20 miles away and live in Pickering! This is my third holiday let I have a very strong track record of ratings and awards. Whitby and surrounding area is one of the most popular holiday locations in the UK. It has a charming "end of the world feel" some say and history and nature abound. The moors national park is one of the most wide open with the largest expanses of heather which flower in late summer. There is plenty to do for everyone though it is not a highly commercialised location with a real rugged and rural beauty and charm. The property is under the Larpool Viaduct, set back a few hundred yards. It is by the River Esk and the steam railway and offers an excellent location for walks on the cinder track to e.g. Robin Hood Bay, with a mostly circular route available along the clifftop coastal path back to Whitby at easily passable most of the year.
