Explorers Rest is set back on a quiet lane in Argasi at the foot of Mount Skopos. It is a single villa divided into 4 studios set in a small olive grove. The studios provide compact home comforts The first floor Mountain View studios are basically equipped and can accommodate up to 2 adults each. The 2 ground floor studios (Voyager & Wayfarer) have been refurbished and can both accommodate up to 3 adults. They both bear characteristics of their names, reflected in their colour schemes and décor. The spirit of the Sea Explorer and the Wandering Wayfarer are invoked in the carefully selected furnishings, pictures, ornaments and books. Both studios have full kitchens giving you the freedom to choose whether to eat out or prepare some great home cooked food. The bunk beds too reflect the sense of adventure we’d like to share with our guests. Guests at Explorer’s Rest are welcome to use the swimming pool at Edelweiss Hotel opposite (respecting the usual pool etiquette of opening times etc.) where we have Aqua Yoga and Garden Yoga classes. Explorer's Rest guests enjoy 10% discount at Argassi Watersports and 10% discount for yoga classes or courses with Out to Explore.

My name is Barbara Clother. I have lived in Zakynthos for over 20 years and have a wealth of local knowledge I'd love to share with you. Apart from running Explorer's Rest I am also a Zen Yoga teacher. My husband, Dennis, the inspiration behind 'Voyager', loves the sea and loves adventure so you'll find him at the beach where he started the first ever watersports on the island... quite a few years ago! Our children are currently studying in UK. Our son, Stavros, is studying outdoor adventure sports; it's in his blood. Our daughter is studying linguistics. As a family we love to explore and we want to share with you as much as we can, opening an opportunity for you to have an authentic experience of this wonderful island.

Explorer's Rest is in a quiet lane set back from from the centre of Argasi. Opposite are Hotel Elea, Hotel Edelweiss and Georgia Studios. All these properties are owned and run by members of our family so guests are welcome to use their swimming pools and snack bar facilities. Tourism is a fairly new thing here compared to other areas of Europe. My family were originally farmers so our accommodation is set in olive groves and there are still the unmistakable signs of our farming roots around. You'll see goats and sheep and plenty of free range chickens as well as fruit trees and lush gardens. The family have green fingers! Close by there are some wonderful places to eat. Being in a quieter setting you'll find a little grill house nearby which is frequented by as many locals as tourists; always a good sign if the locals are eating there! From Explorer's Rest you can take a walk up Mount Skopos or follow another path to take you over the mountain to Kalamaki. Argasi beach and all the lovely seaside bars and restaurants are a gentle 5 to 10 min stroll away.
