The characteristic of the landscape that surrounds the house is the low and bushy vegetation with no or very few trees. It is the typical dry, Mediterranean landscape that we find mainly in the Aegean islands. The location of the house is excellent for wonderful walks in nature on foot or by bike. The dirt roads and the paths of Akrotiri lead you either to the sea, where the summer breeze and the salt rejuvanate you, or to the wonderful mountains of Naxos. Amitis is a sandy beach 900m away from the house. It is not organized with umbrellas and sunbeds but it is suitable for families as it is shallow. At the edge of the bay there is a beautiful little church where you can enjoy the view of the Aegean Sea and take instagrammable photos, especially in the sunset. When the meltemi (a dry north-westerly wind that blows during the summer) is strong, you can do wind-surfing or kite-surfing. Kalliston Naxos is located 3 km from the nearest village Eggares, where you can supply basic necessities from the local super market, the gas station, cafe and restaurant. The airport of the island is 15 km long from the house and the port is 12 km long from the house.
