Our apartment is a spacious (130 m2) duplex on the top (4th) floor of a fully modernized building that was originally built around 1860. As soon as you enter the building, you'll appreciate the courtyard lush with green ivy. The stairs are red marble, flanked with pitch-black wrought iron railings. The apartment can also be reached with an ELEVATOR (LIFT). **** The elevator will be under maintenance between 23 June and 7 July 2025 :: Lower rates during this period to compensate for the inconvenience **** Over the years we've had many guests from around the world, and all of them agree that this apartment feels like a genuine home rather than a standardized holiday apartment. With its spacious and WELL-EQUIPPED KITCHEN, large dining area and a separate living room on the lower floor, and two spacious BEDROOMS on the upper floor, the apartment is best suitable for two couples or a family with 4-5 members. Maximum sleeping capacity is 6 persons (in this case 1 has to sleep in the living room). There's also a walk-in closet, a proper desk with an office chair, and of course wifi and air-con. Despite its central location, the apartment is completely quiet, a perfect base to explore Budapest.

Hi, this is Csaba. I've travelled half the world, I speak 6-7 languages. I love talking to new people. In fact, the most rewarding aspect of renting our apartment is talking to new guests - asking where they are from, telling them tailor-made tips about my home town and country, or even giving travel advice within or beyond Hungary. This apartment was our home for almost a decade. My wife Zita and I went on a year-long honeymoon around Asia, bringing home some of the artifacts you can see in the apartment. Other items are from other trips - from countries as diverse as Kenya, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Iran, etc. When I don't host people from around the world, I work as a freelance translator and conference organizer. I love talking about maps, history, geography, travel, and I'm also a news junkie, reading about current affairs in many different languages.

Our neighbourhood is the financial and administrative centre of Budapest. The apartment is located just one block from the Danube. In fact just before you enter the building after a full day's walk, you get to see the picture-perfect view of the Buda Castle. The iconic image of the Chain Bridge and the Castle in the Hungarian passport was drawn from a vantage point just 200 m from our place. One block in the opposite direction is Budapest's most beautifully laid out public park, Szabadság tér. This is also the beginning of the pedestrian zone, leading you dozens of great restaurants. In fact, some of the best places to eat out in Budapest are within a few minutes walk from our place. The Basilica is the dominant landmark in this area, surrounded by lively wine bars and ice-cream parlours - this is one of the liveliest spots in Budapest year-round. A few blocks North is the magnificent Parliament building, perhaps the most easily recognized landmark of the Hungarian capital. You can also walk to the bottom of the Buda Castle in less than 10 minutes. Overall, our neighbourhood is an excellent starting point to explore the city on foot.
