A few steps from home, on Viale Turati, you can find all the facilities you might need: supermarket, bar, pizzerias and restaurants, ice cream parlor, bank with ATM counter, church. A few steps from home, on Via Belvedere before the level crossing, there is a beautiful playground, large and shaded, where children can play and spend carefree hours. If you want to rent ebikes, there’s a bike sharing service at the train station or in Piazza Cermenati. If you want to take the boat trip on the lake, you can reach the pier in 10/15 minutes on foot. From there you can hop on a boat and visit the pearls of the lake, Varenna and Bellagio, while enjoying the view of the two sides of the lake. If you want to take a nice and quiet walk, in any season, leave the house, turn left twice and once you get to the lake turn right, on Via Lungolario Piave. From there you can take an half an hour walk on the flat pedestrian bike path that takes you in 2.2 kilometers to Orsa Maggiore, in the town of Pradello. Here, in summer, you can freely swim, but also rent an umbrella + deck chairs and enjoy total relax. If you’re more a city person, upon reaching the lake take the left. In 15 minutes you’ll get downtown thanks to a nice shaded promenade. Must visit: Basilica of San Nicolò, Palazzo delle Paure, Villa Manzoni and Museo Manzoniano, Museo Belgioioso. There are many hikes available in Lecco. You can start from home or get a bus/drive to the path start. Among them there are San Martino, Corno Medale (for climbers), Mount Resegone (mentioned in the most famous italian novella, “I Promessi Sposi”), Mount Barro: from all these places you will enjoy spectacular views of the lake, of the Brianza area and of the surrounding mountains. To enjoy a breathtaking view without effort, you can also take bus n.5 in Via Capodistria that takes you to the Piani d’Erna cable car. There’s also a very nice, long path that can be taken in “installments”: that’s the Sentiero del Viandante.
