The flat is located on the first and only floor (no lift) of a building that was built in 1890, even if, looking out from the terraces, one can see the traces of a much older construction, with the remains of what seems a very ancient arch on the wall adjacent the bigger terrace. The name of this holiday home becomes quite obvious when one steps in. The lounge/dining room, has a little terrace where guests can have their morning coffee in total privacy. The second terrace, accessible from the smaller bedroom, is a perfect place where to relax after a long day visiting the city or have a meal cooked in the fully equipped kitchen of the flat. The bathroom was renovated in September 2020 and it's modern and comfortable. The furniture and the decorative details of each room were chosen personally by us, trying to make the place original and cosy at the same time. All the inner windows were changed in February 2022, so now the flat is very quiet and well insulated thanks to the double glazing. There are 3 air conditioning machines that keep the flat warm in winter and fresh in Summer.The air conditioning machines are situated in the two bedrooms and in the lounge/dining room. In January 2025, we put mosquito nets on the windows. The area is outside the ZTL so it's possible to drive without any special permission, yet parking in the street costs up to ten euros a day (free parking at night between 8pm to 8am and on Sundays and holiday days). The bed in the bigger bedroom is 160 per 190 centimetres, while the other bed is 135 per 190 centimetres. We have also added a bed sofa, available for those guests who prefer not to share the bed.

My name is Serena and I live in Palermo with my husband, Malcolm, our daughter Agnese, a dog and a gang of cats. We are an Anglo-Italian family fluent in both languages. We live quite near the flat, so we'll be very happy to spend time with our guests if they wish to have company during their holiday in Palermo or simply need a bit of help when they arrive. My family inspired me so much that I published three books (all available at the flat for the guests, of course!). While the first book was written when Agnese was a child and I had to invent new bed time stories for her, the other two were inspired by our very sweet dog and crazy cats, all rescued in the streets of Palermo or nearby. My husband and I spent 3 years working near Barcelona, so I had the chance to learn Spanish. I can't speak Catalan, but I understand it. I studied French at school far too many years ago, yet I manage to communicate even if my daughter says that my accent is absolutely terrible!

The area is very elegant, safe and full of life,. The ideal starting point for visiting Palermo on foot. In the street there are restaurants and shops, while the nearest supermarket is just round the corner. In winter there are classical music concerts at the Politeama theatre, while in Summer the concerts are played in the square just outside. The prices are very reasonable and the Sicilian Synphonic Orchestra is excellent. We don't recommend coming by car because most of the interesting places to visit are near enough to reach on foot or public transport and because parking in the street could be quite difficult and a little expensive (up to ten euros a day), apart from the fact that driving in Palermo could be an adventurous affair! Palermo is well known also for the quality of food and for the old markets. The flat is about 600 metres from the Capo market, where one can buy lovely fresh fish and vegetables or taste the popular and cheap street food, like the "pane con le panelle" and much more.
